About the Club

"Shepshed Taekwondo club was started by the current instructor, Patrick Shawcroft, in 2001. Pat is a very passionate individual/instructor who always aims to bring out the best in all his students, no matter what age or ability. Since the club began we have trained at several different locations around Shepshed and are currently based at the Ivehead (Hind Leys) Youth Centre. The club practices ITF style of Taekwon-do, concentrating on the traditional ‘art’ itself rather than the sports based style seen in the Olympics.

Since the club was first created, Mr Shawcroft has worked tirelessly to ensure his students are of a high standard, producing no less than twelve Black Belts in recent years (plus four 2nd Dan and a 3rd Dan).  Despite the dedicated nature of the club, the class atmosphere is lively and fun and ensures that the students, both children and adults, enjoy themselves."
(Thanks Steve. Most flattering!)

In 2008 the club joined with three other clubs to form the East Midlands Taekwondo Association. The reasons behind the formation of the EMTA are that we tired of the politics of other associations and the way that Taekwondo is being increasingly used for profit. To this end Shepshed Taekwondo is a non-profit making club and this is reflected in our low fees, membership and grading costs.

This means we do not have any gimmicks to entice you to join (such as a month's free training or a free suit!), and no direct debits to extract your cash, even if you miss a session or two.
However, your first session is free so you can come along to see what we do, and have a go.
