A typical class?
Attending any new class or club can be a little scary, even for adults. Now you know what Taekwondo is, lets us help you enjoy your first class with us even further by showing you what to expect in a typical class. Shepshed TKD keeps its classes fun and interesting by adjusting what we do regularly whilst maintaining consistency to build good quality students.
Each class begins with an introduction where the class is brought to attention and bow...
...warm up and exercises are next which include push ups and stretching as well as games...
...once the class is warmed up, we begin a short period of fitness training and body conditioning, including...
...running, jumping techniques and kickbag work...
...after a break, the class practises techniques and patterns to develop good power and relaxation...
...as the evening progresses the class is split up, allowing the seniors to teach and assist the lower grades...
...this includes traditional practise routines known as ‘3-step sparring’...
...along with more practical and modern self defense techniques such as releases from grabs and chokes with counter-attacks including throws...
...and if all of this wasn't energetic enough for you, we often include enjoyable yet testing sparring sessions.
